Higher water temperatures and a wet environment are perfect ingredients for an unprotected filter surface to develop and breed bacteria growth. Microban ®Antimicrobial, anti-bacterial protection is placed “inside” the polyester fibers of the pool or spa cartridge material to inhibit the growth of bacteria and other living micro-organisms that can cause stains, odors and degradation of the filter surface.
When purchasing a filter, check to see if “Microban®” is available in your filter cartridge size and if so, get it. You will have a much more desirable pool or spa water. Your water will be filtered better and those tiny microbes that are not seen by the human eye are trapped and not allowed back into your pool or spa water.
Continuous Antimicrobial, anti-bacterial cleaning action of Microban® makes filter cartridges easier to clean and keeps them fresher between cleanings. A back-up cartridge is highly recommended as with any other type of cartridge. Remember, even with Microban, allowing the cartridge to dry thoroughly allows ALL organisms and bacteria to die because moisture is not present to breed more bacteria, which can still be present with a wet cartridge even though it has been cleaned.
